2015 Concert Series
Carolyn Giardini is a graduate student at Temple University, pursuing a master’s degree in flute performance. She holds a dual bachelor’s degree in flute performance and music education from West Chester University, from which she graduated with honors (Magna Cum Laude) in May of 2013. At Temple, Carolyn has performed with both the Wind Symphony and the Symphony Orchestra, and played under the baton of Maestro Luis Biava for his final performance as music director of the TUSO at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia. Carolyn currently studies with David Cramer and has taken lessons and appeared in master classes with such artists as Kimberly Reighley, Amy Porter, and Carol Wincenc. A featured guest artist, Carolyn was invited to perform twice for the University of Delaware’s distinguished Master Players Concert Series 2012/13 season, including a collaboration with the internationally acclaimed 6ixwire Project.
Additionally, Carolyn is a founding member and the flute/whistle player for the Stonehaven Minstrels Celtic band. She maintains a private flute studio for students throughout the Greater Philadelphia Area and has taught at the Darlington Arts Center in Garnet Valley and Optimus Studios in Newtown Square.
Carolyn will be featured in The Music of David Matthew Brown on March 27th & 28th, 2015.
2014 Concert Series
28-year-old violinist Andrea Levine is a professional performer and pedagogue in the Philadelphia area. Ms. Levine holds a Master’s of Music degree (with Honors) from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor’s of Music degree from Boston University. Ms. Levine’s major teachers include Bayla Keyes (Boston University Professor), Marjorie Bagley (UNC Greensboro Associate Professor) and Andres Cardenes (Carnegie Mellon University Distinguished Professor). Ms. Levine, a Philadelphia native, currently performs with many of the major regional ensembles in the Philadelphia area including The Philly Pops, Allentown Symphony Orchestra, Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, Reading Symphony Orchestra, Delaware Symphony Orchestra and the Ocean City Pops. Ms. Levine has appeared as a soloist with the Newtown Chamber Orchestra on their “Soloists On Stage” concert series in 2013, and as a “Young Artist Competition” winner in 2003.
In addition to performing, Ms. Levine currently holds an Associate Violin Faculty position at Settlement Music School in Philadelphia.

Brian Tracey is a recent graduate of West Chester University with a dual degree in Music Education and Clarinet Performance. After winning the principal clarinet chair of the University’s Wind Ensemble as a freshman, he has held it for his entire collegiate career. He is also a member of the University’s internationally touring Chamber Wind Ensemble, which performed throughout the Czech Republic in the summer of 2012 and will embark on a tour of southwest Germany in June of this year. He was the winner of both the Freshman and Sophomore scholarship competitions at WCU and performed with the University’s Orchestra as a winner of the Senior concerto competition. Currently he is anticipating the fall semester, when he plans to continue his musical studies at the Peabody Institute with Baltimore Symphony Orchestra principal clarinetist Steven Barta.

There is no musical challenge too great for soprano and new music aficionado, Kirsten Waterson. An avid recitalist, she performs art song with flawless intonation and character. An affiliate of the Delaware Valley and West Chester University Opera Companies, Kirsten has played such leading roles as Blanche in Dialogues des carmélites (Poulenc) and La princesse in L’enfant et les sortiléges (Ravel). She is equally versed as a music educator and currently serves as the choral/general music teacher at William H. Ziegler Elementary School (K-8) in Philadelphia. Formerly she held the same position at Henry R. Edmunds Elementary School.
